Jessa Hurst
Programs Director
Jessa (she/her) has been on a lifelong journey of seeking and supporting transformation. Her experience with serious childhood illness sparked a search for wellness that revealed healing is not only physical but also deeply tied to mental and emotional resilience.
Her path led her to study Pre-Med at Virginia Tech and later to train in Traditional Chinese Medicine at Hilltop Eastern Medicine Clinic. She expanded her understanding of care by earning certifications as a Birth and Death Doula, where she learned to accompany others through life’s most profound thresholds.
Her passion for transformation inspired her to work with wellness-focused organizations, where she discovered the power of amplifying access to care through marketing, operations, and program development. These skills became a way to expand the reach of meaningful, healing work.
Jessa began her journey with Zendo Project as a volunteer in 2018 and became part of the staff in 2023. She brings to this work a deep love for humanity, a trust in the power of transformation, and a gift for creating thoughtful, intentional spaces where people can feel held as they navigate challenging and tender moments.
