Community Guidelines for Communication
Community agreements and etiquette foster inclusion, respect, and an optimal environment for learning and growth.
Although our community is based on the standards that support cognitive liberty, as a harm reduction organization we seek to promote the values of social equity and inclusion–at all times. Because of this, we assume that an individual’s involvement in this group environment is inherent agreement to abide by the standards set below, with acknowledgment that the Zendo Project reserves the right to remove messages and participants that violate these community standards.
Community Guidelines within this group are:
- Respect and Courtesy: We treat each other with respect and kindness. This includes refraining from personal attacks, offensive jokes/comments, alienating language, insults, harassment, or other forms of disrespectful behavior.
- Inclusivity and Diversity: We value inclusivity and diversity within the community. When engaging in the virtual forum spaces, we choose to share in a way that all members feel welcome and valued, regardless of their background, identity, or beliefs.
- No Hate Speech or Discrimination: We do not tolerate hate speech, discrimination, or any form of bigotry based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or other sociocultural identities. There is a zero-tolerance policy for such behavior and any messages or participants expressing in such a way will be removed from the chat.
- Privacy and Confidentiality: We respect the privacy and confidentiality of all members. Avoid sharing personal information or private conversations without consent, and ensure that discussions remain confidential within our virtual community.
- Clear Communication: We express ourselves openly and honestly while also listening attentively to others’ perspectives. Practice active listening, empathy, and understanding.
- Self & Community Growth: We utilize the integration of course material as a means to promote personal and community transformation. We hold the vision that this virtual forum can foster a sense of community and belonging. We welcome the formation of affinity groups or connecting with other participants 1:1.
- Self-Accountability: We are willing and able to self-reflect and respond from a place of compassionate care
- Self-Tracking: We invite participants to track the impact that any of the course content or course environment is having on their well-being using a scale from 1-10. “1” means you are neutrally or positively impacted, and “10” means you are very strongly impacted in a challenging way, or highly activated by content or other aspects of the training.
- We recommend that if you are at a 5 or greater, please consider refraining from engaging in the chat. An alternative could be taking some time for yourself, assessing your needs, tapping on your own inner resources, or reaching out to someone else for support. The pulse team is available for support, please email us at pulse@zendoproject.org.
- Self-tracking is of utmost importance in becoming a good sitter for someone in need of support. We will address this as a skill set more and more throughout this training, and we see that even just being in this training is a great opportunity to practice self tracking.
Feedback: The Zendo Project welcomes your feedback and takes your observations, reflections and suggestions to heart as we evolve our educational offerings. Please provide specific course feedback in the form provided and utilize the chat space for connection. Please utilize the feedback form or email us at pulse@zendoproject.org.
These expectations and agreements are not comprehensive. As such, we reserve the right to alter, add, or change above guidelines as we learn and grow together.
